Sports Hospitality – ‘Incredible’ Rafael Nadal can win US Open – McEnroe
Wimbledon champion Rafael Nadal is definitely capable of winning the US Open this year, John McEnroe says. "Nadal wants to win the US Open so badly, it'd be hard not to pick him at this time even though he's never won it," McEnroe told the ATP's website. "The guy's just an animal, he's mentally and physically incredible and he can definitely do it." The world number one has won the three other Grand Slam events but has never reached the final of Flushing Meadows. McEnroe, who won the US Open four times in his playing career, said he expected Nadal to take some time off before the New York tournament starts at the end of August. The Spaniard sealed his second Wimbledon title on Sunday, beating 12th seed Tomas Berdych in straight sets. He has won the French Open five times and the Australian once; the US Open is the only Grand Slam to elude him. Last year, Nadal lost in the US Open semi-final to eventual champion Juan Martin del Potro; in 2008 he also lost in the semi-final to Andy Murray. On his way to this year's Wimbledon title, Nadal overpowered Murray in the semi-final.
McEnroe said Murray played well and just needs to continue on the same path. "I thought it was a little soon for Murray at Wimbledon because he hasn't been playing with much confidence for a lot of this year, but he likes the hard courts a lot better so he'll be playing well at the US Open," stated McEnroe. "If he sticks with it and perseveres I think at some point he'll get some luck and be able to pull a Grand Slam out of the bag. He just has to keep strong mentally and realise that his time will come."
]]>
McEnroe also had words of encouragement for Roger Federer, who suffered a surprise quarter-final defeat at Wimbledon and has now dropped to number three in the world rankings. "Federer's done so amazingly well that anything but a win is almost considered a bad tournament," he added. "But he's won the Australian Open and been in two other quarters at majors this year, and almost any other player would love that." McEnroe said Federer would probably not be able to dominate the game in the way he has in recent years, he has "enough talent and enough pride" to figure out a way of winning more Grand Slam tournaments.

Tennis – Rafael Nadal upsets Djokovic at the Rome Masters final
It was not a good day for the defending champion of the Rome Masters, the Serbian Novak Djokovic, who lost against the Spaniard Rafael Nadal in the final of the tournament, in a great game that was very close during the first set by both players. The game of Djokovic was quite fluctuant during the whole game; at in a moment we was playing great and in the next one he was losing control and committing unforced errors. In addition, Nadal has become the best player in clay surface in recent times and this was the third tournament that he won the last three weeks.
For Nadal, this is his fourth Rome Masters title in five years and the other two clay titles he has won this year are those of the Barcelona Open and the Monte Carlo Masters. Now he will be participating in the Madrid Masters before heading to France to defend his title at the French Open that will start in three weeks. If he continues with his amazing clay run this year, he would win his fifth consecutive title at Roland Garros.
]]>
After his win at Rome, the World No.1 referred to his upcoming tournaments – “Every tournament is completely different. In Roland Garros we will see. Important thing is (to) play well. If I am playing well, I’m going to have a lot of chances to have good results in both tournaments. But you never know what can happen. Tennis is always like this,” Said Nadal.
Nadal and Djokovic had to go to a tiebreaker in the first set of the final. According to Nadal, this was one of the most difficult moments of the match for him, but Rafa stayed calmed and played with a great precision, which made Djokovic lose control and led him to convert only 2 points in the tiebreaker. The second set was entirely for Nadal as it ended 6-2 and gave the victory to the Spaniard. A very interesting fact to add is that Djokovic has been the only one capable to win a set to Nadal in clay this season, in the Monte Carlo Masters. However, at Rome it was a different story.
The 22-year-old Spaniard has improved his winning streak on clay to 30 matches, after his early defeat last year to Juan Carlos Ferrero at Rome. This year was different and Nadal has expressed that he is very happy and satisfied with his victory at Rome since for him is very important to win another title that will prove that he is the No. 1 of the world at this moment.
On the other hand, since Djokovic failed to defend his title at Rome, he will lose his No. 3 position in the rankings on May 11th to Andy Murray after last year’s points drop out. He has been the World No. 3 since August 2007and he is planning to recover his position later on this year. Among his best achievements of this year had been defeating Roger Federer in the semifinals of both the Miami Masters and the Rome Masters. Djokovic said that he had his chances on the final against Nadal, but he committed too many errors and that is why Nadal is the No.1, because he knows how to overcome the pressure.

Rafael Nadal, Brad Childress And More
Nadal sent home early
Ivan Dodig played his best tennis and managed to take down Rafael Nadal at the Rogers Cup. The last time the 25 year old Spaniard was sent home so early in a tournament was back in 2008 at the Rome Masters, but despite the loss, the world ranked number 2 said that he was satisfied with the level of his play "I had to close the match with the 5-3 [lead] in the third set, I had to close that match probably in the second when I was playing very well." He said. Now the Croat Dodig, who is ranked as the 41 in the world will have to face Janko Tipsarevic in the third round of the tournament.
Royals loses 4 straight to Rays
The Rays beat the Royals by 4-1 today, and with the victory, they completed a 4-game sweep in which the team of Kansas City (who has lost 6 of their last 7 games) was unable to match the capacity of the Tampa Bay squad, and now critics are pointing out to the large number of rookies and the small number of rookies at the Royals' roster for the disaster, as the team has no regular starter older than 27.
Childress blames Moss for Vikings 2010 fiasco
Brad Childress has open up about his firing from the Vikings, and the experienced coach mentioned that Randy Moss' bad behavior played a major part on the team's failures at the 2010 season, as he said that he believed the veteran player (12 seasons) could have changed his wrong ways, and then proved he was still as troublesome as always "We had good guys, by and large," Childress said, "(but Moss) walked in the locker room and vomited on it." Were his words on the former NFL wide receiver.
Woods continues to underperform
The first round of the PGA championship just passed, and Tiger Woods continues to underperform, as the winner of four PGA titles finished at the bottom of the leaderboard along with other pros such as Faber Jamerson and Mike Northern, now the veteran player is forced to play better on Friday if he doesn't want to be eliminated, and he is well aware that minor mistakes can turn into big losses, as he mentioned that "I'm in a major championship, it's time to score, time to play and time to let it go, and it cost me the round."
